Our Bylaws
Between 2010 and 2012, the CRC was formally established as a regional committee recognized by the IUCN, with a mandate to coordinate and collaborate with members in the insular Caribbean.
The roadmap that guides our regional efforts
The Caribbean Regional Committee (CRC) began to take shape in 2008 with the launch of the Caribbean Initiative during the IUCN World Congress in Barcelona. This initial momentum, led by member organizations from the Caribbean Islands and the Regional Office for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean (ORMACC), laid the groundwork for closer collaboration among members in the region.

A clear framework for our operations and decision-making
The decisive step toward our autonomy and strong governance came in 2018, when the IUCN Council formally approved our bylaws. This milestone granted us:
An Executive Committee elected democratically every two years, consisting of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
Governance
Open to all IUCN members in the Insular Caribbean, including overseas territories. IUCN Affiliates may become members without voting rights.
Membership
Decisions are made by consensus; if that is not possible, by a majority vote.
Decision-making
Coordinate the implementation of regional programs, coordinate conservation initiatives, and promote the exchange of institutional capabilities.
